Liam Grant

We recently announced our next live event, which will see American guitarist Liam Grant take the stage at Hypnos in Malmö, before a screening of the restored 4K version of Picnic At Hanging Rock. This is May 4th.

But have you listened to Grant’s recent album, which came out on the legendary Charlottesville label VHF? It was originally started in Washington DC in 1991 and has released music by artists like Richard Youngs. And now Liam Grant’s third album Prodigal Son is available through them. Just like the spectacular Amoskeag from 2023, it digs deep into the tradition of American primitive guitar music but perhaps with a bit more influence from country.

It came out in February as a 5-track LP, which is still available. On the album, Grant plays both lap steel and 12-string guitar, while he gets some help with banjo and fiddle from his old live band on the closing track.
