Longtime Malmö institution Retreat Radio have put out their first ever release and it’s a big double-cd compilation featuring producers who have been residents over the years. The station, which filled a void after the demise of Sing Sang, represents a large community that has gone global in the last few years. On the 24-track Tracks In the Mud are original compositions from well-known Malmö profiles like Fasaan founder Prins Emanuel, Kess Kill founder Rivet and Malmö Traxx founder Digge Shim. All of these also work or have worked at local club venue Inkonst.
Longtime residents and collaborators like Saatans Kvinna and Rumina sit side by side with our friend Tzimtzum from Gothenburg and London-based Aircode. Even Stockholm is represented by e.g. Sofftronic (pictured) and Moonilena. The overarching theme for the release was dub, but the music takes the listener in many different directions (in stark contrast to other local communities like CPE, that share a common vision and aesthetic).
