Meiteimahi or 酩酊麻痺, is a duo from Tokyo consisting of Marin and Hi. I wanted to highlight their release from 2024 even if it’s about a year old now. But it’s a bit hard to find with a western keyboard. That EP is called 光 (which means ‘light’). It came out on their own label Hikutsuki in January last year and includes 6 beautiful tracks that continue the legacy of their 2022 minialbum. While that record was a bit more noisy, 光 is inspired by dreampop, all but the noise rock closing track. As far as I can tell, their band name means ‘intoxication paralysis’.
