Not Not Fun started in Los Angeles in 2004, as a small cassette label. Twenty years later, they’re still putting out obscure music but these days they are available on streaming services as well. To mark the anniversary they invited 16 ”alumni and affiliates” to contribute to Alley of the Sun – a double-LP that came out in October. Incredibly it’s also the label’s 400th release, with music from e.g. Frunk29, White Poppy, Vague Imaginaries, Magnétophonique and Robedoor (pictured). The track by Essential Key is amazing, there are no past releases under this name, perhaps it’s a new alias of someone familiar?
