As usual when writing about Californian duo German Army they’ve released at least two new albums and such is the case this time as well. 1% Silk came out on Opal in October and Plot a Recurring Cycle on tape via Pildoras back in June. Do these releases have anything in common? Peter Kris and Norm Heston have a penchant for conceptualism, but both of these records are great examples of their experimentalism.
The 17-track 1% Silk has a silk road theme going on, referencing various places in Asia and Eastern Russia, including the made-up Jighuristan. The other album seemed to be centred about Zimbabwean tribes and languages. Listen for yourself below, both are highly recommended.
