RECORD TURNOVER 80s HITS #218
The Ghostwriters were a duo formed by synthesizer expert Charles Cohen and multi-instrumentalist Jeff Cain. They’d started working on music together already in the early 70s but in 1981 released their first Ghostwriters album. Objects In Mirrors Are Closer Than They Appear came out locally on the small Philly label Red Music in 1981.
San Francisco label Dark Entries have remastered the LP and recently reissued not only the 8-track debut, but also the second album Remote Dreaming. That 1986 release was a response to ambient label Mu-Psych asking them to create an ambient cassette. The remastered version has now been pressed on double-vinyl, with several unreleased tracks to boot.
Both of these releases on Dark Entries are in support of Safe from Online Sex Abuse, to which all the proceeds will go. It should be mentioned that Charles Cohen served time for soliciting sex from a minor and passed away in 2017, two months after sentence served. Hence the donations.
