We’re thrilled to receive the third volume of Lokad’s exclusive compilation series at Record Turnover HQ. The new LP is called Intuition and includes 7 contributions on that theme. As usual the San Francisco label has commissioned the producers in utmost secrecy, so everyone is participating without knowing who else is involved and all the aliases are unique to this release.
The press text gives nothing away as to the identities of the artists but hints that some of the tracks might be older unreleased material from well-known names. The whole point is to judge the music not by its context but its content.
It is a beautiful record though – this time all the 300 copies are on this amazing translucent blue vinyl. And it sounds great too. The suggestive and moody track from Headnodders Society contains dialogue from what sounds like an old film noir.
Sark Unit has a very cool breakbeat track and Unchanged provides us with futuristic electro. It’s all music for the dancefloor without ever veering into standard techno templates. There’s no way to hear the music online, so best buy your copy here. Now that I’ve been to Iceland, at least I know that the label name means ‘closed’ in Icelandic.
