Hakuna Kulala – the label associated with the Nyege Nyege Fest in Uganda – is probably the most well-known African label outside of the continent. Last month they released the debut album of French-Cameroonian artist Violaine Morgan Le Fur. As Violence Gratuite she makes music from a wide range of influences, concocting 11 experimental pieces of pop music on Baleine à Boss.
Violence Gratuite grew up in Paris and last year she played Nyege Nyege. This year a couple of music videos have appeared for the singles ”Iséo” and ”Baleine à Boss”, shot in Cameroon.
