Percussionist and composer Valentina Magaletti from London just played at this year’s Roskilde Festival, and I also saw her in Copenhagen earlier this year. She released this new 12” back in March on her own micro label Permanent Draft. It’s the third release on the label that ”aims to highlight works showing a certain taste for fragmentary, irrepressible creative eruption and lo-fi experiments” – following e.g. A Queer Anthology Of Drums.
Lucha libre is a 4-track EP and one of Magaletti’s most experimental to date. We don’t only get drums and vocal samples here, but also something most readily described as spaced-out post-punk.
