Here’s my favourite reissue of the year, if you can even call it that. Numero Group made this available on streaming services in 2023 but it’s not mentioned anywhere on their website. You can actually find the music of X-Cetra through the Internet Archive as well, and there’s some info on them on Ubuweb. The group consisted of four girls aged 10-12 (two of whom were sisters): Janet and Mary Washburn, Shauna Mayeri, Jessica Hall. They were given some tracks to work with by Californian musician and radio host Don Campau.
But the music was pretty weird and only came out on tape in 2000 via Campau’s underground label The Lonely Whistle, started way back in 1984. These 8 tracks were recorded in Santa Rosa, CA and were produced by Robin O’Brien.
