The mysterious German post-punk group Balm recently put out a longplayer on Berlin label Mangel. I’m guessing they’re from Leipzig, since these 8 enthralling tracks were recorded there. I’m thinking these people must have been in other bands before, since it’s a very accomplished album in terms of songwriting. My mind is transported to 90s Sonic Youth but also New Zealand (Aldous Harding, Look Blue Go Purple).
This month they’ll be on tour around Europe with US band Soup Activists, who also released on Mangel very recently.
