As much as I hate artists going by pointless acronyms, Norwegian producer Kent Tonning’s project MRD more than makes up for it with their hybrid techno/indie sound. Having made music in the techno realm for years, MRD has appeared on compilations from Exhale, Ismus and Possession. But it’s his recent dive into 90s dance paired with Black Marble-style synth-pop that created a new unlikely genre-pairing that’s like The Cure on mdma. It culminated with new album Løvehjerte from May, released via Berlin collective Live From Earth Klub and featuring artists like Narciss and Caiva.
