A new Current Affairs album is a huge event for us – we all remember their debut LP from 2019 and trying to get in to a packed Berlin show pre-pandemic. If it’s taken them a few years to gain momentum again that’s totally understandable. On Friday their new record Off the Tongue is coming out on Tough Love and the band also has a new member in their ranks.
Bass player Gemma Fleet from Order of the Toad and Dancer is a nice addition to a bunch of musicians known from bands like Anxiety, Shopping, The Royal We etc. They all met through the Spitehouse collective – “a project designed to promote queer and female-fronted music through events mainly held at Transmission Gallery and Glasgow Autonomous Space”.
