RECORD TURNOVER 80s HITS #160
East Wall was an Italian so-called darkwave group that was originally consisted of two members of Kirlian Camera (pioneers of the country’s electronic music scene) together with Wilma Notari. Beginning life in 1982, they eventually released their first single “Eyes of Glass” in 1985 on the tiny No Comment label. This track actually sounds a bit more like italo disco and became successful in Germany, leading to a subsequent release on ZYX in that country.
East Wall’s first LP didn’t arrive until 1991 and by this time the group had a new vocalist. Being a truly DIY project, the band released Silence on their own Elettrica Dischi label. On this record the sound had become harsher and especially the title-track feel pretty bleak. In 2017 Dark Entries reissued the 8-track album on double-vinyl.
