I discovered Barcelona post-punk outfit Belgrado a few years ago when I finally heard their stunning 2016 album Obraz, which came out on La vida es un mus. It’s definitely one of the best records within its style in the past decade – along with fellow Spaniards Algara. They have just returned, with a slightly different line-up and a new sound. The live drums are gone and synthesizers have layered the tracks with a neon 80s glaze. Intra Apogeum is out on their old label in April and singer Patrcyja Proniewska is still singing mostly in Polish but the first single “Boixar” is in Catalan. This Sunday they are playing the Grauzone festival.
