It’s time for a couple of stragglers – there are always those records you find out about towards the very end of the year. Usually through others’ top lists and in this case New Commute. Francis Lyons from Philadelphia turns in his fourth LP via local label Dear Life, and it’s packed with dream imagery like a modern Neutral Milk Hotel. The production is otherwise heavily inspired by Mark Linkous on the 12-track cassette Separation. It came out in September but sounds more like it’s from 1996.
