You’d be forgiven for mistaking the cover of this Sunfear LP for an 80s 4AD release. Octopus is the Turkish artist’s debut album and came out on Dark Entries in August. It’s an unassuming record on the surface with elements of postrock and similarities to LA’s Syko Friend. But Eylül Deniz, who’s based in Istanbul, has been making music since 2017 and this is a multifaceted work that belies it’s simple arrangements of guitar and piano. The closing track “Goodbye” is perhaps the most impressive.
