The Iranian composer Ata ‘Sote’ Ebtekar followed up his majestic Moscels with a new album that came out way back in the spring. Majestic Noise Made In Beautiful Rotten Iran is an 8-track opus released via Sub Rosa – the classical/experimental label from Brussels who have released music by everyone from John Cage to Morton Feldman. Like other pioneers, Sote believes that “rules and formulas should be deconstructed and rethought”. A few years ago he started Zabte Sote, which releases Iranian experimental electronic music from around the world.
