It’s been a couple of years since Peel Dream Magazine released their second album. Since then songwriter Stevens has moved to Los Angeles and continued the band on his own. On the new album Pad he takes a radical step away from the post-punk and shoegaze influences of previous work and goes full-on soft rock. The 15-track LP that dropped just a few days ago on Slumberland (Tough Love in the EU) tackles Sunflower-era Beach Boys with undeterred fervour. The result reminds me of everything from 80s Louis Philippe to 00s indie groups like Afternoon Naps.
