It wasn’t long ago that the American duo Jeanines released their new album on Slumberland. It was followed by a new single a few weeks ago and it’s always nice to see contemporary groups return to the classic pop format of the 45. It’s Paul Messis’ now-sporadically active label Market Square who are releasing it and it’s their first record of 2022. Capturing the Jeanines melancholy spirit, the two tracks could easily have fit on just one side because they’re so short. In that way they remind of 80s UK group Po! who had a similar sound.
