Masahiro Takahashi is a Japanese artist now based in Toronto and who released an album on local label Telephone Explosion earlier this year. Flowering Tree, Distant Moon is a meditative experience that is built on samples and electronic sounds with influences from Japanese gagaku (classical music). It has an incredible analogue warmth despite being a digital product and was the result of isolation during the pandemic winter. It was originally released on tape by Not Not Fun last year, but sold out quickly.
