Cat’s Miaow side project Hydroplane accidentally become a lot more popular than Bart Cummings main band – by ridding themselves of the live drums and working with a more subdued palette of sounds. This was in the mid-90s when indie labels were largely just issuing 45s. After releases on tiny imprints like Drive-In and Wurlitzer Jukebox, they finally released an album in 1997. I’ve got the cd but I was pleased to see that Melbourne label Efficient Space have now given it a vinyl reissue.
