You’d be forgiven for assuming that Puerta Negra is a new synth-punk group from Spain. Even though they sing in Spanish on their debut EP Costo Humano, they’re actually based in Portland. Berlin label Detriti quickly picked them up, because the sound is right up their alley. They gave the 6-track EP a release on cassette about a month ago, and it actually sounds so 80s it’s hard to believe it’s actually from March 2022.

Add Yours[…] Puerta Negra turned some heads last year thanks to a release on Detriti. Now they’re back with another tape, this time on Andi’s Synthicide imprint. Playa Sola is a 12″ with 4 tracks bursting with angst, protest and holier-than-thou attitude. The producers and vocalists Maria Aguirre and Mark Arciaga have perfected their synth-based retrofuturist sound on this EP and I really hope a few copies make it across to Europe. […]
