History of Leather is a Chicago duo consisting of solo artists Velvet Curtain and Hanging Lichen. After a handful of releases on labels like No Rent, they’ve taken their ambient compositions with elements of field recordings to local label Chicago Research. Work is their debut for the label and came out last month. The tape consists of 10 tracks that approach the formats of popular music without ever breaking into harmony or melody.
