What a nice surprise the Fine Place LP that came out on Night School last month. Who knew that Frankie Rose had teamed up with Matthew Hord (from Running and Brandy) to record a set of synth and minimal wave? This New Heaven was recorded in Brooklyn after Hord moved up from Chicago. On its 8 tracks the duo blend the sonic textures of The Cure and Cocteau Twins with synth-pop to great effect.
