After pulling a John Cage earlier this year, by releasing The Silent Record, Escape-ism returned with their next longplayer Rated Z last week. With another great sleeve design from Experimental Jetset, this is probably Svenonious and Cabral’s most minimal work to date. ‘Rated Z’ is supposed to come after X in extremity, explained as ‘WHAT NO ONE IS ALLOWED TO FEEL, HEAR, OR SEE’. On 8 intimate tracks, including the spoken word “Teenage Surrealism Pt I & II” we’re invited into the private universe of Escape-ism. It’s out on French label Mono-Tone Records.
