Aurat from Los Angeles, one of our favourite darkwave groups, take a slightly new turn on their recent mini-album Khaar. The guitars take a back seat to electronics on these 6 tracks and the remix from Mvtant. With inspiration from 80s EBM, tracks like “Shame” blend desperate vocals with cold industrial beats to great effect. It’s a lot less melodic than their previous work and more visceral. I can’t decide which version of the band I like best!
