Pearl & the Oysters is a French-American duo that are currently based in Los Angeles. They’ve released a couple of albums in the past with, but it is with Flowerland that they’ve really come into their own. The album is packed with 14 summery songs that sound a bit like Sugar Candy Mountain but with a stronger 60s psych-pop influence, especially from Brazil. The spirit of Curt Boettcher is all over this, and there’s also a cover of “Baby” that was originally done by Caetano Veloso. The LP is out on Feeltrip in September.
