Texas-based sound artist Claire Rousay has become something of a growing phenomenon for people with an interest in musique concrète and experimental sounds. After a myriad of releases, the more accessible a softer focus was released in collaboration with visual artist Dani Toral on the American Dreams label and was reviewed by Pitchfork. Since then, the label has launched a sublabel helmed by Rousay, called Mended Dreams. A Collection can be seen as a companion piece to the new album, as a way of introducing Rousay’s music to a new audience. Across 2 cds, the 13 tracks range from straight-up field recordings like the 18-minute “october 3rd” to incredibly funny “I’m Not a Bad Person”.
