RECORD TURNOVER 80s HITS #78
Valentina Goncharova, who was born in Kiev, later became a classical musician with the cello as her instrument during the Soviet era. But she also made a lot of home-recorded electro acoustic music during the 80s. Some of these have now been compiled by Muscut sublabel Shukai, which is exclusively devoted to reissuing Soviet electronic music. On Recordings 1987-1991, Vol. 1 you will get to hear 10 pieces across two LPs that show the impressive range of sounds Goncharova got out of her cello. Some of the tracks are more than 15 minutes, clearly inspired by Iannis Xenakis or perhaps Karlheinz Stockhausen. Goncharova now lives in Talinn, Estonia, where Muscut has half of their base.
