Powerpop group The Lolas were formed in 1998 by Tim Boykin from Birmingham, Alabama. The next year, their first album Ballerina Breakout came out on Jam Records. Last month reissue label You Are the Cosmos released the retrospective compilation called All the Potion In the World, which collects tracks from all their albums. The a-side in particular is amazing, focusing on their classic first three albums. “Something You Oughta Know” is beautiful (and where the lyrics that make up the title of the compilation comes from) and will appeal to fans of Teenage Fanclub or Modesty Blaise.
