The cheekily named Toxic Razor and Kriistal Ann formed the darkwave duo Paradox Obscur seven years ago in Athens, Greece. I wasn’t a huge fan of their album from last year, but the brand new Singles & Rarities encapsulated everything that’s great about the band. If you can stand some heavily accented lyrics you’ll be richly rewarded for diving into this collection that ranges from pure kitsch to some sincerely dark tracks like “Throbbing Gallows”. Available on cd from American label Metropolis as of last week, along with a new video for “Tranquil”.
