Wow, ten years into their career Cool Ghouls out of San Francisco release an album that sounds so vital and just keeps flying the flag of psych, folkrock and garage (in case you’d forgotten about those). These guys and The Shivas are about all there’s left of that ilk. If you’re one of those people out there who consider A Swirling Fire Burning Through The Rye to be a 00s mainstay, then are guaranteed to love their new LP At George’s Zoo. Over 15 tracks, they manage to channel The Byrds, The Eyes and themselves – with “Feel Like Getting High” being the unexpected anthem of the spring. The LP came out on Empty Cellar Records a week ago (Melodic outside of the US).
