Masaki Uchida is a Japanese sound artist and musician who released a great EP last year called Amatelucas, on UK label Our Circular Sound. Yesterday his new tape Ambi came out on the new Dutch label Confusion Unit, who specialise in making extravagant cassette releases. This 6-track release comes in 3D-printed cover designed by Delphine Lejeune and Jonathan Castro. The music is, as the title suggest, mostly ambient and sometimes including field recordings, piano and guitar. It doesn’t have the elements of IDM of his previous release but still operates with an element of chance and the “concept of inevitability”. It works perfectly for a label who explores ‘physicality and affects of the sonic’.
