Freak Genes is a UK duo comprising Charlie Murphy and Andrew Anderson. They got together in 2016 and cut their first album for Alien Snatch. Last month they returned with their fourth longplayer Power Station via Feel It. The hype for synth-punk have caught up with them and on these 12 tracks they prove that it’s more than just a novelty. It’s heavily influenced by DAF but they also remind me of the Swedish sci-fi synth group S.P.O.C.K.. With some help on mixing and mastering from Mikey Young, they sound sharper than ever.
