Ian Lapa is a Moscow producer who has released a bunch of singles for the St. Petersburg label Kucha. A couple of years ago he also provided the soundtrack for upcoming Moscow brand Hovanskie’s runway show. In December his first international release saw the light of day thanks to London’s dark techno label The Hiddens. Generation is a heavy 5-track EP with massive beats, not too dissimilar from Meshes but also more kitsch. One of the tracks is in Russian but I think one also has English lyrics (I just can’t hear them). It all sounds like some horribly mutated strain of Depeche Mode. The frenzied “Sexier” is probably my fave.
