Geneva Jacuzzi is probably one of the most important underground musicians from LA, starting out over ten years ago and releasing her first few albums herself via Myspace. One of them got a vinyl release on the small label Vinyl International, who also worked with Ariel Pink. Lamaze from 2010 but has been unavailable for many years, that is, until Mexican Summer decided to reissue this classic last month. The 15 tracks were recorded 2004-2009, with some appearing on other releases as well and Ariel Pink actually plays on a couple. Lamaze still sounds refreshing, revelling in 80s synth-pop à la Lio with a gothic tinge.
