The Reds, Pinks & Purples is steadily growing into one of Glenn Donaldson’s most iconic projects, following an album on Tough Love last year and now an upcoming release on Slumberland. Most of these tracks were recorded solo at home in San Francisco and some of them were shared on a series of EPs on bandcamp. Uncommon Weather, their third longplayer, is set for release in April with two singles (and videos) shared so far. “Don’t Ever Pray In the Church On My Street” recalls the melodrama of drum-machine pop group The Shining Hour (who apparently are still going?). Somehow this sound feels natural to California despite its British origins.
