Melissah Mirage, performing as Moody Beach, was among the most interesting Sydney artists I saw live last year. Still in the process of finding their sound, the group seemed equally adept at the electro pop of “Slave” and the dream pop of “Chance”. Moody Beach clearly has a unique vision – much like Austin’s Lou Rebecca – and that still applies to her new single “Why Not”. It was released by Viscera Arts a few days ago a long with a unpretentious video shot at home. This time, the sound is shoegaze with breathy vocals and a programmed beat that will make you think of My Bloody Valentine.
