L.T.F. (or Lily the Fields) have just released their first LP on Chicago Research. Illuminations is their fourth album in one year’s time and is in some respects a return to the more ambient-based nature their debut Tortured Earth. While the intervening tapes (released as L.T.F.) veered towards EBM and industrial beats, this new record (which seems to actually come wrapped in sack-cloth) focusses on atmospheric sounds that are mostly non-rhythmic. The heavily effects-laden saxophone on “Lamp Glares” is as chilling as it is comforting. What an amazing record.
