RECORD TURNOVER 80s HITS #45
Notchnoi Prospect was a Moscow 80s group that became quite popular in the Soviet, with a musical style that has some of the same feel that The Bad Seeds were creating in Berlin with Nick Cave. What was originally a sort of ironic synth-pop duo formed by Alexei Borisov and Ivan Sokolovsky eventually grew into a full band that veered towards an industrial sound. Just listen to their 1988 album Кислоты (‘Acids’) for example. The group is still active and recorded a new version of the album’s title track “Acids” under the name The Forced Oscillations some years ago. In 2019 they surprisingly unveiled a whole 1986 album called Health Resorts of the Caucasus which features a very different instrumental dub approach.
