UK duo White Flowers are releasing their third EP Within a Dream today, hardly a year after their debut. The 4-track 12″ is out on Tough Love and features more of their typical dream pop sound, but also moves out of the Beach House comfort zone. Especially on the title-track, with its complex drum pattern and synthesiser arpeggios. Also included is a cover of “Didn’t Want to Have to Do It”, performed in the 60s by Mama Cass, Lovin’ Spoonful and Roger Nichols. “Blue May” however, is not a cover, but it would have been interesting to hear their take on the Sunshine Company masterpiece. The records was co-produced with Ali Chant who has previously worked with PJ Harvey and Portishead).
