Another French artist who has a record on the way is Paris thug Voyou, whose music is everything but mischievous. With a sound stretching all the way back to 60s songwriters like Michel Polnareff and William Sheller, Voyou is still enamoured with 80s synthesizers and the postmodern pop of the 90s. His latest release was an EP on Entreprise last year, which reminded listeners of Vendredi sur mer, and in mid-February Chroniques terrestres Vol. 1 will be out. This 12″ is the first part of a multicoloured trip through a multitude of genres. The first single “Mue” blends jazz and hip-hop in a summery instrumental.
