The Young Sinclairs aren’t dead, apparently. They just released a collection of covers that span 2004-2014, called O.P.P. and holding 17 tracks. Despite last year’s album being their first since 2013’s Chimeys, this compilation gives us hope to hear more new material from them in the future. Some of my favourites here are the versions of Larry & the Blue Notes’ “Night of the Phantom” (the censored version) and “It’s All Over Now Baby Blue”, which faithfully reproduces the take done by The Chocolate Watchband in 1968. They also do “Long Time” by Gene Clark and a folkrock interpretation of Guns ‘n’ Roses.
