The Chicago trio Dehd released their second album Flower of Devotion on Fire Talk earlier this year. It’s a raw, emotional album that makes me think of great bands like Christmas Island or Totally Mild. Like them, they enjoy guitar jangle and drums with tambourine. It’s been a while since the album came out but it’s grown on me slowly. There aren’t many other bands around today that can still make this kind of introspective pop with credibility without oozing of middle class privilege. They even follow the 90s habit of one-word track titles.
