UK artist Laurel has relocated to Los Angeles and exchanged her Cat Power-influenced drama for neon gloss with an 80s fetish. On her new EP Petrol Bloom the songs veer towards disco and synth-pop and regardless of what you may think of the production the songs are really strong. Check out the video for “Appetite” that came out yesterday. Sadly it’s only available digitally and I think the fake cling wrap in the cover art is bit silly. There is a second EP format release planned for release in 2021 on Communion.
