Rudy de Anda is a Californian wunderkind who’s been making music for many years, often playing live together musicians from e.g. Crystal Antlers, DeLux and Meow Twins. After fronting Wild Pack of Canaries he started recording solo and released a beautiful album in 2016 that blended punk, psychedelic and sunshine pop. Now signed to Karma Chief, he unleashed his latest single “Los Canarios” that quickly became one of my favourite tunes of the year. Effortlessly inhabiting the space between Woods and Holy Hive, de Anda makes Latin-infused rock with a generous nod to tropicalia. Tender Epoch is an album that feels lost in time, so ridiculously not in tune with the struggles of 2020 that it becomes a most welcome escape.
