Eight long years, that’s how long the wait has been for another album from Michigan punks The Spits. Since V came out on In the Red most of us had given up on hearing anything more from them. But just listening to the opening track “Up All Night” off of their new album VI – it’s clear that this is every bit as great as “All I Want”, which I thought was one of their best songs. “Cop Kar” is classic Woods brothers songwriting, with the guitar sounding particularly mean thanks to Erik Nervous’ co-production. The only thing more you could wish for was that it was longer than 17 minutes.
