Dutch legends of Anatolian rock Altin Gün have just released a new single, and the first taster of their next album Yol, coming out on Glitterbeat next year I assume. “Ordunun Dereleri” is, like most of the group’s material, a Turkish folk song but I think they’ve been inspired by Serter Bağcan who released this as a single in 1973. Altin Gün’s treatment however, puts it closer to the early 80s synth-pop sound. It’s fairly mellow and long for an a-side, suggesting the group might be widening their scope on the next album. “Bir Of Çeksem” on the flip is a gentle instrumental, featuring the saz with a completely different sound from the band’s more psychedelic recordings.
