Ancient Plastix curiously comes from the mind of Liverpool musician Paul Rafferty (Hot Club de Paris) and was created with a four-track and synthesizers, resulting in a very analogue ambient record – well 20 years ago it would have been called a post-rock record. The self-titled tape, which is coming out on Maple Death in December sounds a bit like Mogwai but also uniquely its own. Rafferty has launched two new solo projects this year, this being one of them and Doomshakalaka being the other (out on Moshi Moshi). Listen to the hauntingly beautiful “The Dream Within The Dream Within”.
